    Why a multi-port charger

A good universal charger can feed a MacBook, a phone and a tablet from one outlet. You pack less. You also have to watch the wattage split: three devices on a 65W brick do not each get 65W.

USB-C Power Delivery is the compatibility line that matters. Port words are unpacked on USB-C, MagSafe and GaN. Match the Mac first on wattage, then add ports.

    What actually matters

    USB-C Power Delivery

Required for every Mac since 2016. Skip no-name bricks.

    Enough watts for the Mac

65W floor for Air plus a phone. 100–140W if a Pro 16 shares the brick.

    Two to four ports

Mac + iPhone is the usual pair. A USB-A leftover still helps older accessories.

    GaN

Less heat, smaller brick, same PD handshake.

    UGREEN Nexode 100W

    • • 100W, three ports. Mac + iPhone + iPad on one brick.
    • • Enough for MacBook Air M1–M5. Check wattage split when all ports are in use.

    Anker 735 GaNPrime 65W

    • • 65W, compact. Travel-friendly for Air and light Pro use.
    • • Official vs Anker: Apple vs compatible.

    Belkin 140W USB-C

    • • 3 USB-C + 1 USB-A. The 140W total is shared across the ports. Desk-friendly for Pro 16".
    • • USB-C Power Delivery compatible — not an Apple certification claim.

    Watch the wattage split

Multi-port ratings are shared. A “65W 3-port” charger may drop the Mac below 65W when two phones are plugged in. If the Mac is a Pro 16, do not treat a 65W multi brick as a 140W replacement.

Use a USB-C cable rated 100W or 240W for the Mac. A 60W phone cable will cap the charge even if the brick is 120W. Port terms: ports page.

MagSafe is a different decision. A multi-port USB-C brick does not replace a MagSafe 3 cable. See MagSafe Mac charger if the magnetic clip is the actual need.

    Multi-port charger FAQ

No, if it is USB-C Power Delivery certified and the wattage matches the Mac. Skip no-name bricks with no PD mark.

Yes. That is the point of a 2–3 port GaN brick. Watch the per-port split: a 65W three-port charger may drop below 65W on the Mac when two phones are plugged in.

65W is the floor for Air plus a phone. 100–140W is the useful range if a Pro 14/16 shares the brick. See the wattage page.

GaN bricks run warm under load. Leave them in open air. If a brick is scalding on a 30W phone charge, return it.

Use a USB-C cable rated 100W or 240W for a MacBook. A 60W phone cable will cap the charge even if the brick is 120W.
